The Story Of The Dutchman’s Laundry

After years of working in residential washer repair services and as a Speed Queen residential laundry dealer, Nathan and Becci Burkholder expanded their family business to include a commercial laundry service, The Dutchman’s Laundry. From their experience in the appliance repair industry, there were several complaints the Burkholders heard repeatedly from people who had recently visited laundromats-that they were dirty, that the machinery was often very old and that much of it was out of order. With these concerns in mind, The Dutchman’s Laundry opened in August 2015 to provide the community with a safe, clean, and reliable place to do laundry.

Washing Machines The Dutchman's Laundry

Since our grand opening in August 2015, our regular customer base has grown steadily. Thanks to our facility’s cleanliness, commercial-sized washers, well-maintained equipment, and family-friendly environment, many customers come to take care of their large items like comforters to catch up on our extra-large load after a busy week. It is all our laundry is about, to provide the community with a safe, clean, and reliable place to do their laundry.

And if you were wondering about the name. . . .

The Burkholders trace their heritage back to the Pennsylvania Dutch community of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with many grandparents and relatives that still speak Old German or “Pennsylvania Dutch.” Although their immediate family is no longer Amish or Mennonite, the Burkholders decided to name their laundromat to reflect their unique family heritage, while also giving their business a personal touch for customers to remember.

What Our Clients Say About Us

Pretty amazing facility. We took a plus sized queen comforter with shams, a twin quilt and comforter, and three sets of sheets to the Dutchman's today. They all conveniently fit into one washer! One cycle versus 5 or 6 at home. So clean, great environment, safe atmosphere. Feeling very thankful. Glad you're open.

“I visited the Dutchman's Laundromat for the first time today. It was so nice and clean, filled with new machines, and dryers that work very well. There was even a very nice area for children. It was quiet and all the customers were friendly as well as the management... Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.”
